Life-Slice 2/31

Life can take many twists and turns
It can be messy and overwhelming
Life can be unexpected and challenging

But it can also be good…

Life can be sweet and charming
It can be full of surprises and wonder
Life can take you on adventures and fill you with love

How do you choose to look at life?

  1. I was just having a discussion with my cousin today. She asked if I was happy with the way things had turned out. I told her that this is a problem of contemporary society. Somehow, we have this idea that we will one day arrive at happiness. When I graduate, when I get married, when I have children, when I get a job, when I retire. In the end, we miss so much happiness as if it isn't there. Happiness is not a destination, it's a discipline of practicing gratefulness. Thank you for sharing your poem! I hope my sharing wasn't preachy. (It's just because your writing seemed so apropos).

    1. Your comment wasn't preachy at all. I agree with what you said to your cousin. My point was that we (myself included) need to look at life's everyday gifts and find happiness and joy. I think we have a choice to see the good or see the bad...both things are always there if you look hard enough.

  2. Yes, we do need to look at each day as a gift and will, therefore, find happiness and joy in our living. Your poem is a good reminder to us to look at things from the positive and not the negative. Thanks for sharing
